Somin Lee of Meadow Hills Golf Course defeated Bryce Schroeder of Elmwood Golf Course 2 up on the 18th hole to earn the 2008 CWGA Junior Match Play Championship title at The Broadlands Golf Course. Lee hit almost every fairway and green in regulation and made keys putts. The turning point of the match came on the 139-yard, par 3 15th hole when Lee came within inches of a hole-in-one. Lee proceeded to win the 15th hole, putting pressure on Schroeder. Lee then found herself up two holes after number 16. Schroeder claimed the 17th hole to push the match to the 18th hole. Lee struck a tee shot down the middle of the 18th fairway while Schroeder found her tee shot in a fairway bunker. The match ended on the 18th green when Lee made a putt for par while Schroeder ended with a bogey.
Bryce Schroeder fired a six-under-par round of 66 during the qualifying round. This score not only earned Schroeder the top seed going into the quarterfinal round of the Junior Match Play Championship, it also broke the course record for women at The Broadlands. Lee shot a 74 which seeded her second behind Schroeder. During the quarterfinal round, Schroeder defeated Dana Zamprelli of Red Hawk Ridge Golf Course 3 and 2. Meanwhile, Somin Lee defeated Sarah Moore of Cherry Hills Country Club 2 and 1. During semifinal round action, Schroeder defeated Kristin Kempton of Lone Tree Golf Club and Hotel 4 and 3, and Somin Lee and Shinwoo Lee both of Aurora Hills Golf Course (no relation) battled for the chance to play in the final match. Somin Lee ended the match 3 and 2 on the 350-yard, par 4 16th hole with a birdie.
