Dean Clapp and Jon Lindstrom, who lost in a playoff earlier this month in the CGA Four-Ball Championship, claimed the top spot on Friday, winning the CGA Two-Man Team title at Black Bear Golf Club.
Clapp, from Meadow Hills Golf Course, and Lindstrom, from Legacy Ridge Golf Course, shot a 2-under-par 70 Friday for a winning total of 8-under 136. That was one stroke better than first-round leaders Tyler Bishop and Michael Harrington, as well as Scott Mendelsohn and Tom Richardson. Bishop and Harrington closed with a 73, while Mendelsohn and Richardson posted a 70 on Friday.
Steve Murphy successfully used his home-course knowledge of Black Bear in teaming up with Richard Gorbell of Springs Ranch Golf Club to win the Two-Man Senior Division. With a 67-70–137 total, the pair overcame fellow first-round leaders Kelly Crone and Larry Netherton to prevail by two strokes.
