Stacey Arnold and D’Ann Kimbrel, both of Willis Case GC, posted a two-day team score of 152 to claim their third consecutive Chapman Championship. The duo beat the rest of the field by ten strokes.
Arnold and Kimbrel together shot a first round 3-over-par 75, opening with a birdie and carding an eagle on the 16th hole. This allowed them to carry a four-stroke cushion into the second round over Robyn Asbury and Danielle Atkinson, both of The Pinery CC. A string of pars on the first few holes and a birdie on number six gave Arnold and Kimbrel an advantage at the turn during the final round. They finished the second day with a 77 for a two-day total of 152. Although they struggled a bit on the back nine both days, Arnold and Kimbrel’s strong play on the front nine helped them to keep a lead over the competition throughout the tournament. Meanwhile, Asbury and Atkinson bogeyed five holes and double bogeyed one on the back nine during their second round of play to finish with an 83 and a two-day total team score of 162. Mary Doyen and Jill Kirkpatrick, both of Broken Tee Englewood, tied for the runner-up position after posting a second-round score 77, ten strokes better than their day one score.
The Chapman format is an alternate shot team event and included 60 teams representing 44 different clubs from around Colorado.
