Eric Hallberg of Colorado Golf Club, son of Champions Tour player Gary Hallberg, shot a 3-under-par 68 to share medalist honors Monday with Dylan Wonnacott of The Fox Hill Club in the CGA Junior Match Play Championship at King’s Deer Golf Club in Monument.
The top 64 players advance to the match play portion of the event, which starts Tuesday and concludes on Friday.
Also shooting sub-par rounds on Monday were Cameron Harrell, a Colorado State University letter-of-intent signee from Pine Creek Golf Club (69), and Gus Lundquist of The Club at Pradera (70).
John Ahern of Bear Creek Golf Club, last year’s runner-up, fired a 72 on Monday.
Spencer Sheets of Glenmoor Country Club shot 80 and won a three-hole playoff to gain the final match play spot.
