Jessi McVay of CommonGround GC and Ruth Van Zee of Canongate at Blackstone CC came out on top in the 2011 CWGA Chapman Championship to win a first-time title for either team member. McVay and Van Zee finished overall with a 170 to barely snatch the title from the Broken Tee GC team of Robin Walker and Marilyn Heustis.
McVay and Van Zee shot an 11-over-par 84 to share the round one lead with Lisa Stone and Laura Dunston, both of Saddle Rock GC. Round two proved to be interesting, however, as Walker and Heustis came back with a vengeance to shoot a final round score of 79 after shooting a 92 the day before. Meanwhile, McVay and Van Zee shot an 86 in the final round which included four bogeys on the final four holes. After it all was over, though, McVay and Van Zee came out ahead by one stroke, enough to earn the Chapman trophy.
