Chris Thayer of Denver and former University of Colorado golfer Kenny Coakley were among the 64 players who advanced to match play Sunday out of a field of 264 at the U.S. Mid-Amateur at Stonewall in Elverson, Pa.
Thayer (pictured), the 2014 CGA Mid-Amateur champion, shot rounds of 74-73 for a 7-over-par 147 total, good for a share of 45th place in stroke play. He made two birdies and five bogeys on Sunday.
Coakley went 75-71 for 146, leaving him tied for 35th place. He carded two birdies and three bogeys on Sunday.
Match play will begin on Monday.
