Going into this week, Colorado State senior Blake Cannon hadn’t yet won a college tournament individually.
Coming out of the week, Cannon has two victories. Easy as that.
Four days after winning CSU’s own Ram Masters Invitational at Fort Collins Country Club, Cannon prevailed at the prestigious William H. Tucker in Albuquerque, N.M.
Cannon (pictured), a transfer from Arizona State, shot rounds of 71-69-70 for a 6-under-par 210 total. That was good for a two-stroke victory over San Diego State’s PJ Samiere. The University of Colorado’s Morten Toft Hansen placed sixth at 215, while CSU’s Jake Staiano was 10th at 217.
Team-wise, CSU finished second in the 16-school field, 10 strokes behind champion San Diego State. CU was fifth and Denver ninth.
