Colorado Golf Association and Pole Creek Golf Club member, Ted Eckles won the Bandon Dunes Dream Golf Vacation raffle hosted by the CGA. This trip of a lifetime included lodging and six rounds of golf at Bandon Dunes Golf Resort in Oregon with a friend.
Early in September, Ted and his friend Bob Boxwell took the direct flight from Denver to North Bend on their way to Bandon Dunes. After returning, Eckles said “[it] was over the top wonderful. We had great weather and even better golf. I spent my working career traveling the world and Bandon has some of the best customer service I have ever experienced.”
Ted sent us this picture saying “this photo was taken on my favorite hole, number 16, at the Bandon Dunes course. The hole is a par 4 – 345 yards. You play over a ravine and then onto the green which sits on a point more beautiful than any ocean course I’ve played.”
The prize package also included the caddie fees for all six rounds, lodging, meal vouchers and travel vouchers as well. The inclusion of caddie fees is appropriate since Bandon Dunes does not have golf carts and is famous for “golf as it was meant to be.” It seemed as though this raffle was the perfect fit for Eckles who is a big supporter of youth programs. “This is so exciting! I never thought I’d win – I bought $100 worth of tickets (5) to support the caddie program. I am an avid golfer and supporter of junior programs. I really like getting the kids involved in the game.”
All of the money raised from the raffle this summer, $26,320.00, was used to directly support the Solich Caddie and Leadership Academy, which creates opportunities for young people to develop leadership skills and enhance their character through a foundation built around caddying. The CGA wants to thank everyone who participated in the raffle and made this possible. We would also like to Bandon Dunes Resort for thier generous donation of the stay-and-play package.
