Parker Edens of Greeley rallied after a first-round 77 to shoot 66-67 the last two days, putting himself in good position to advance to the final stage of Web.com Tour Q-school.
The former Colorado State University golfer (pictured) has jumped into 17th place after Thursday’s third round of a second-stage tournament in Beaumont, Calif. In the last two days, he’s made an eagle and 13 birdies to leave himself at 6-under-par 210.
The top 19 finishers and ties after Friday’s fourth round will advance to the third and final stage of Q-school, Anyone who makes the final stage — set for Dec. 8-11 in Winter Garden, Fla. — will be guaranteed at least conditional status on the 2017 Web circuit.
Two other players with strong Colorado ties are also in the top 19 after three rounds. Jim Knous of Englewood has broken par each day — 66-70-70 — and shares eighth place at 10-under-par 206. Knous was 12 under after making an eagle at No. 13 on Thursday, but he double bogeyed No. 17.
Also in the top 19 is University of Colorado senior Jeremy Paul, who carded a 71 on Thursday and is tied for 15th place at 209.
