Colorado Golf Hall of Famer Brandt Jobe is no stranger to excelling in tournaments that utilize the modified Stableford scoring format, so it should come as no surprise that he tied for third place Sunday in the Diamond Resorts Invitational in Orlando, Fla.
Jobe, who lived in Colorado for 29 years, finished second at The International in Castle Pines — which used a modified Stableford format — in 2005 and he placed sixth in ’98.
At the Diamond Resorts Invite, Jobe scored 92 Stableford points, ending up 12 points behind champion Woody Austin and four back of runner-up Joe Durant. The former Colorado Open champion posted daily point totals of 33-32-27. In the event, an eagle was worth 6 points, birdie 3, par 1, bogey 0 and double bogey or worse minus-2.
Though the Diamond Resorts Invitational isn’t an official PGA Tour Champions Charles Schwab Cup event as LPGA professionals compete also, 27 Champions golfers played in the nationally televised event.
Jobe recorded seven top-10 finishes in official PGA Tour Champions tournaments in 2016.
