The University of Colorado women started the spring portion of their schedule on a positive note on Sunday by finishing third out of a dozen teams at the Peg Barnard Invitational and putting two Buffs in the top five individually.
Competing against a field which featured top-ranked Stanford competing at its home event, CU freshman Robyn Choi (pictured in a CU photo) placed a personal-college-best third and senior Esther Lee tied for fifth in Stanford, Calif.
Choi, an Australian, shot rounds of 70-72 for an even-par 142, which left her eight strokes behind the champion, another freshman, Andrea Lee of Stanford.
Lee, ranked 30th in the nation’s women’s college ranks according to Golfweek, carded back-to-back 72s in the spring opener for a 144 total.
As a team, the Buffs recorded a 19-over-par 587 total for two rounds. No. 1-ranked Stanford won at 571, followed by Oregon (581).
