On Friday, the 2017 Junior Golf Alliance Boys Player of the Year finished 40th out of an original field of 212 in the boys 15-18 division at the IMG Academy Junior World Championships in San Diego.
Bryant shot a 3-over-par 75 in the final round at Torrey Pines’ famed South Course to post a 9-over 297 total for four days. He carded two birdies, three bogeys and a double bogey on Friday, finishing 13 strokes behind champion Adam Thorp of Australia.
Bryant was the only Coloradan left competing on Friday as the younger age divisions wrapped up play on Thursday. That was when 10-year Hadley Ashton of Erie finished fifth out of 82 players in the girls 9-10 age group. (For more on that performance, CLICK HERE.)

The event ended on Thursday for all but the 15-18 boys and girls divisions, which will wrap up on Friday.
A year after finishing 28th in this event, Ashton (left) placed fifth out of a field of 82 in the girls 9-10 tournament.
Ashton, who has won every Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado 11-13 tournament in which she’s competed this year, shot rounds of 70-75-74 at the Sycuan Resort to post a 3-over-par 219 total. The 10-year-old ended up six strokes behind champion Gianna Clemente of Warren, Ohio.
In the final round, Ashton made one birdie (on the first hole) and three bogeys.
Meanwhile, the Colorado State University-bound Bryant will be the only Coloradan left competing on Friday. With a cut to the top 50 players and ties out of the 212-player field, the 2017 Junior Golf Alliance of Colorado Boys Player of the Year advanced on the number and stands in 44th place. He birdied his final hole to advance, and finished with five birdies on Thursday.
The 18-year-old has recorded scores of 71 twice, sandwiched around a second-round 80. That leaves him at 6-over-par 222, 12 strokes behind leader Nathan Petronzio of Bee Cave, Texas.

There’s only a 54-hole cut in the tournaments for the 15-18 age division for both boys and girls. In both cases, Coloradans were in position to advance to Friday’s final round with good scores on Thursday in the San Diego area.
Alas, it wasn’t to be.
Charlotte Hillary of Engelwood, who was in 23rd place going into Thursday in the girls 15-18 division, missed the cut by one stroke as she finished 43rd, while the top 40 and ties made it to Friday’s final round. The 2016 JGAC Tour Championship winner shot a 7-over-par 79 Thursday at Torrey Pines North and posted a 10-over 226 total. She made two birdies in round 3.
And Dillon Stewart of Fort Collins likewise missed the cut by one, in his case in the boys 15-18 tournament. Stewart finished 52nd, with the top 50 and ties making the cut. He closed with a 4-over-par 76 on Thursday at Torrey Pines South, putting him at 9-over-par 225 overall. He also carded two birdies in round 3.
(Updated July 14) Incoming Colorado State University golfer Parathakorn Suyasri, who qualified last week in Colorado for the U.S. Amateur, went on to finish 18th on Friday. He recorded rounds of 72-69-77-75 for a 5-over 293 total, which put him 13 out of the top spot.
All the remaining age divisions were simply 54-hole tournaments, so they ended on Thursday for everyone.
The top finisher by a Coloradan at Junior Worlds was Hadley Ashton of Erie, who was 28th out of 76 players in the girls 9-10 tournament. She went 81-78-74 for a 233 total.
