Joining the list of competitors for the Open — which will award $100,000 to the winner — via Thursday’s qualifier at Legacy Ridge Golf Course in Westminster were Jon Kuzava of Littleton (3-under-par 68), amateur Braden Bentley of Colorado Springs (69), University of Northern Colorado golfer Li Chen of Broomfield (70), Andy Connell of Denver (70), Chase Nathe of Windsor (70) and Ryan Schmitz of Greenwood Village (70).
Kuzava advanced to U.S. Open Sectional Qualifying this year and Connell last year. Chen competed in last year’s U.S. Amateur.
Three players — Steve LeBrun of Royal Palm Beach, Fla., John Hurley of Tomball, Texas and David Muttitt of Albuquerque, N.M. — shared medalist honors on Thursday with 4-under-par 67s.
The final qualifying tournament for the Colorado Open will be Monday at Legacy Ridge. The Open itself is set for July 26-29 at Green Valley Ranch Golf Club in northeast Denver.

Steve Irwin of Lakewood Country Club and Barry Erwin of Murphy Creek Golf Course, along with Alex Buecking of Columbine Country Club and Trent Isgrig of CommonGround Golf Course stayed in a share of the lead as they matched 6-under-par 66s to go into Sunday’s final round with 14-under 130 totals. Irwin and Buecking won the CGA Four-Ball title together in 2009.
Buecking and Isgrig have yet to make a bogey through 36 holes as they posted six birdies on Saturday. Irwin, a two-time champion, and Erwin have made two bogeys total to go alone with 16 birdies.
Meanwhile, Macdonald and Schmitz, from the Country Club at Castle Pines and Colorado Golf Club, respectively, carded the best round of the tournament so far — by two strokes — in following up a 69 with a 62. They trail the leaders by one after racking up 11 birdies best-ball on Saturday, posting 11 3s on their card.
Dallas Massey of South Suburban Golf Course and John Hayes of Commonground are the only other team at 135 or better as they hold fourth place at 132.
Sunday’s final round will begin with a 9 a.m. shotgun start.

Seiple (pictured), a two-time U.S. Junior Amateur qualifier who just completed a medical redshirt year at the University of Mississippi, beat 2015 CGA Junior Stroke Play winner Isaac Petersilie of Colorado Springs Country Club in the round of 32, and 2015 CGA Stroke Play champ Chris Korte of Lone Tree in the Sweet 16.
Overall on Wednesday, Seiple was 13 under par for 24 holes, including 8 under in his victory over Korte.
Nosewicz, meanwhile, defeated Michael Tait of Raccoon Creek Golf Course 3 and 1 on Wednesday morning and 2015 CGA Junior Player of the Year Coby Welch 5 and 4 on Wednesday afternoon. Nosewicz was 4 under par overall for the day.
Also making the quarterfinals with two wins on Wednesday were Glenn Workman of Desert Hawk at Pueblo West, Ryan Schmitz and Andrew Romano of Colorado Golf Club, Nathaniel Goddard of Ptarmigan Country Club, Jake Staiano of Glenmoor Country Club and Kyler Dunkle of the Club at Pradera.
Staiano, the stroke-play co-medalist this week, and Dunkle were Colorado State University teammates last season, though Dunkle has since left the team.
Korte and Petersilie were far from the only CGA champions to fall on Wednesday. Also exiting were stroke play co-medalist Steven Kupcho of Heritage at Westmoor (who lost to Romano), Jon Lindstrom of Lakewood Country Club (lost to Korte), Pierce Aichinger of Glenmoor Country Club (lost to Welch), Chris Thayer of Bear Creek Golf Club (lost to Josh Thomas of Green Valley Ranch Golf Club), Jimmy Makloski of Pueblo Country Club (lost to Schmitz) and Tristan Rohrbaugh (lost to Dunkle).
Like Wednesday, Thursday will feature two rounds of matches. The 36-hole final is scheduled for Friday.
